His sister Stephanie drove the 3ish hours up to Duluth alone so that she could hide in the bushes and take pictures of Jason proposing. I'm so thankful Jason thought to ask her to do that and that she was willing! Here are a few pictures of the day! *Side note: before Jason got down on one knee, he moved me into position. He knew where Stephanie was hiding and my back was to her so he moved me over. Maybe wasn't super smooth ;) but he helped make the pictures turn out!
October 2 has been a special day for me for four years now. Jason will roll his eyes and tease me about dates that I like to keep track of, but deep down I think he is actually touched that October 2 means so much to me. It's the day that Jason proposed and I became his fiancé! He took me to Duluth for the day and we ended up at a "beach" after we ate at The Vanilla Bean in Two Harbors. He told me that he loved me, and I promptly replied that I loved him back. He must have felt that he didn't convey what he really meant because his next words were "No, I really love you". Time stood still for a moment and he got a knee dirty (as my former teacher/pastor Rick Holland would say). I couldn't get the ring on my finger fast enough. Maybe I should have let him put it on my finger? I saw the beautiful, sparkly ring and just grabbed it and then jumped into J's arms when he was standing up. I'm sure I told him yes while all that was going on, but I think the ring disappearing from his hand gave him the answer he needed. It's been a fun four years as I got to be his fiancé, and then his wife, and soon to be the mother of his child. We can't express how excited and thankful we are for this new chapter in our lives. Only 8(ish) more weeks to go until we get to meet this precious little girl! Had to end the post with an updated belly shot :) 31 Weeks! Will be 32 weeks on Friday.

Here we are, pictures of 29 weeks on the right and 30 weeks along while I am now 31 weeks on Friday! I honestly never thought we'd get this far along. As much as Jason and I prayed for a baby, and as much as we pray for the Lord to grow her safe and strong in my womb... I'm ashamed to say I had doubts that we would make it this far. That we would get to have baby this far along. I'm finding out that there are many things the Lord puts in our lives that forces us to either go crazy with worry, or to let go of any control we think we have in life and learn to trust Him all over again, or for the first time. Sadly I need this lesson over and over again it seems. Thankfully the God I serve is loving, compassionate, and forgiving. It's comforting to know that God as a perfect plan for our baby girl, no matter what it is. We keep praying for the day we will meet her and we are so excited! We have been taking a Bradley Method class for the last 7 weeks and we have 3 weeks left. That is making it feel real that the end is in sight! The class has been interesting and the teacher has some interesting views, but it has been very helpful for me. Learning what my body will be doing and what baby should be doing during labor/delivery has made me feel more confident for what is coming. We have also been busy with our house project. We have been living in chaos for the last few weeks, which has been very hard for this pregnant lady. I want to get everything in order but have had to wait, and still need to wait, for work to be finished. Our upstairs now has a new closet for our washer and dryer, we went for four bedrooms upstairs to two, we have a bigger master bedroom, and a brand new closet! Jason is working on getting everything painted (along with his mother, who is very kind to help while we are at work) so we can have our washer/dryer installed on Sunday and then so our new carpet can be put in on Oct 9th. Then we can start on the baby room! I'll post pics of before, during, and after when I am able! I am so thankful for all the hard work Jason has put in with this project to get it started and now almost completed. I'm not able to help with much and he has been so diligent in getting done what we need done when so that the people helping with the remodel can get their work done. Otherwise we have been busy with youth group starting up again at church, Jason's softball, and other random activities that my forgetful brain has forgotten about already. All I can think about is getting baby here! She is moving like crazy tonight, not sure if she is awake or just sleeps like her daddy ;) How fun it will Here we are, a day away from 28 weeks. Time is flying by! I'm excited to meet baby girl, yet we have so much to do before she comes! Life gets busier and busier, and the more pregnant I get the harder time I have not getting overwhelmed and stressed. It's getting harder and harder for me at work, so thankful that maternity leave is 3 months away! Last weekend we took advantage of a long weekend (Labor Day) and went home to Montana for a few days.. for 2 days to be exact. We got home at 11:30pm Friday night and left late morning Monday. It was good to be home where life slows down just a bit. We had a full day at home! Something we don't get here in MN! On Sunday, church was at EMBC (Eastern Montana Bible Camp) so I got to show Jason where I used to go to camp every summer. Afterwords, we went to another place I loved when I was growing up in Montana. Medora! We walked around the old time town and had dinner before we went to the musical. It was a fun night! Jason said he was very glad we went. It was fun to be home :) But exhausting with all the traveling. Well.. I'm very tired all the time, so I don't know if it was from the traveling alone.. but it did add to it! It was fun to get to see mom and dad, somehow I only got a picture with mom! I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of mom and dad this winter/spring :)
Before we went to Montana I was able to get a few fun things for baby girl's nursery. I so can't wait till we can decorate the room!! Hopefully we will be starting with our house projects soon so we can get to the baby room. We are re-carpeting our upstairs and moving our washer and dryer to the upstairs (I think I've mentioned this before). While we wait for the projects to be started and finished, our formal dining room is filling up with baby stuff! We have a dresser/changing table, decor for the walls, a cradle/bassinet that my grandpa made (and I slept in when I was a baby), and a pack 'n play! Not sure much more can fit in there between the piano and the china cabinet. This evening we started our baby registry! Stephanie came to help, which was good because when she got there we had only registered for 2 things and we were frozen still in the bib and utensil aisle (the first aisle at Buy Buy Baby). Having this done with, or the majority of the registry done with, helps me feel a bit better. Whether or not we will be as totally prepared mentally or have our house just perfect or our registry completely done, Baby Girl will still come when she is ready and we'll have the time of our lives meeting this little girl that's been growing inside of me. She is getting bigger and moving more and moving around things in my that I would prefer she leave alone! I'm feeling more tired, clumsy, forgetful, achey, and well.. fat. I'm so thankful for this girl and so very thankful the Lord has given us this gift of not only a baby but of pregnancy, with all it's aches and pains and uncomfortableness. Can't wait too see and hug and hold this little one! This post is a bit out of order, as this happened a few weekends (or is it months?) ago by now. Jason and I are leaders in our Jr High ministry at church and so we went on the summer camping trip with the kids along with Ryan and Stephanie. This was our third camping trip with the kids as a married couple, and Jason has gone a time or two in the past before we were married. We go to a State Park in Wisconsin that's only 30-40 min away. It's a nice camp site with hiking and waterfalls to enjoy. This year we had perfect weather, unlike last year. It rained most of the time and was cold! Since Stephanie has a newborn, she came for the afternoon on Friday, most of Sat, and met up with us at Nelson's on Sunday. Little Gavin was a trooper and did great on the camping trip that he was apart of! We drive over on Friday midday and immediately set up camp. We have the girls set up their own tent, and the boys set up their own. When we were all set, we went over to the park and the kids swam at the "beach". In the evenings we hang out by the campfire, play games, eat dinner, roast marshmallows, and Jason gave a devotional on serving in the church. Sat we do a lot of hiking around and after lunch we go to the waterfalls. It's a steep walk down, but it's always worth it. The kids jump off "cliffs" into the water, hike up the river, and can walk behind the falls. It's a lot of fun :) Sadly last year I had a migraine so I could hardly function enough to enjoy the falls, this year with being pregnant I didn't want to risk slipping and falling so I sat at the bottom and watched. The kids (and this includes the big kids: Ryan and Jason) had a lot of fun. The next day we pack up and go to the "beach". Ryan gave a devotional the night before and gave another Sunday morning before we head into Stillwater to go to Nelson's for ice cream. Overall it was a successful camping trip. The kids enjoy it a lot as well us leaders. It gives us time to be with the kids outside of the church setting and to get to know them more and for them to get to know us more. Here are a few pics! Time is getting away from me! The top pic is from 24 weeks, the bottom one is from 25 weeks that I took to send to mom (ugh.. I do get swollen ankles a lot and the 25 week picture shows the water retention in my face! or maybe it's just cuz the pic has REALLY bad lighting!)... and guess what?! Tomorrow I'll be 26 weeks... It's way too hard to keep up on the blog with the different pics... maybe I should just wait till after baby is born and put up all the pics at once :)
Have been feeling good and getting anxious to start on baby stuff! Hopefully soon we'll get our house projects underway so we can get to decorating the baby room. Much more I'd like to write, but do not have the time! Maybe next time! Here I am again, posting my baby bump photo the last day of the week I'm at. This is my 22 week photo and tomorrow I'll be 23 weeks! It's probably the shirt I'm wearing today, but I feel much bigger than this picture! The last month has been the good side of pregnancy, not that I've had it very hard. This week I've started having some lower back pain and some tight/uncomfortable stomach feeling, which is nothing really worth complaining about :) Last week Baby Girl was going crazy with her kicking during Wed night church and it was the first time I could actually feel a body part thumping away at me! Every time she is kicking or punching away I unconsciously have my hands on my stomach. I don't know if she was doing summersaults or cartwheels or what was going on, but right where my hand was I felt HER, not just a kick, but her. I almost screamed out loud. (Amanda can imagine my reaction as when I felt Shirley moving around when she was 7ish months I kinda freaked out). Sadly no cravings to speak of.. I was really looking fwd to having cravings. I'm very thankful to be over half way! I just can't wait to see what Baby Girl will look like? I have a feeling she'll look more like a Hostetler, but will have a Fremont appetite... which scares me a little bit :) I've finally gotten motivated to start thinking and doing a few things for the nursery. The room is already purple and gray, so no need to paint! Purple, gray, and a turquoise/green will be the colors. We do (well I do) have a running list going of all that we want to do, and a few projects for my overly creative parents. Speaking of, my mother is probably the most creative/crafty mother there is. No joke. She also knows my taste better than I do. She has designed a quilt for Baby and started making it.... and I'm going to give you a look at what she has done so far! She has hit the mark perfectly with what I want to do with the chevron and polka dot mixed together! But seriously, this lady is insane (in a good way). She draws up the quilt design, makes her own patterns, and then just goes to town like it's no big deal. I'm afraid it's going to be too pretty to use! Isn't this going to be a precious quilt! And it's just the start!
I did purchase my first few things for the baby room this week. A few decorations and an antique dresser that we'll use as a changing table. This is going to be fun :) Jason and I went to Buy Buy Baby with Becky the other night. After we were about to leave, Jason asked "So, is it going to be like this with every kid?" Haha :) Nope! We only get to go crazy with the new baby stuff on the first kid, so enjoy it babe! On July 11, Jason and I were able to see our little miracle via an ultra sound. That's right, it was our 20 week ultra sound..... so besides being able watch our little baby yawn (so cute!) we were told that baby is very photogenic and the tech was able to get a clear view of the gender. Doesn't SHE have the cutest little profile? :) We had the tech write down the gender in a card so that we could go out to eat and open it together alone. It was so special for us to find out if baby was a girl or a boy together. When we saw that we are having a girl, Jason's response was "wow.. a girl" in a voice that sounded a little awe filled (and maybe a little nervous, a little girl has a way of getting her daddy wrapped around her finger :) and my response was just to cry. (I have tears now writing this!) It's absolutely amazing to me that the little movements I feel and the bump that is growing is all because this little girl is inside! It's so awesome to see how the Lord creates life. As my friend Amanda wrote in her blog when she was pregnant with Shirley, it's so crazy/amazing/cool/weird that the safest place for a baby to grow and develop is inside the mother womb. Needless to say we have some excited aunties and uncles and grandmas and grandpas! Mom has started designing a quilt for Baby Girl, Monica has picked out yarn to knit for Baby Girl, Stephanie has graciously been giving me books to borrow and clothes to wear. Jason and I had a mini gender reveal party the night of July 11. Jason thought it was crazy weird to have a party for it, but why not?! An excuse to have family over and to have a fun way to tell them if baby is a girl or a boy is so much fun! I made cupcakes the night before, 12 with blue frosting in the middle and 12 with pink frosting in the middle. Family all came over and we had mom and dad on Skype and Matt and Ali on Skype. Once everyone bit into the cupcakes there were lots of squeals and congrats all around. I think Jason enjoyed it more than he thought he would :) We cannot wait for November! This is the first time in a LONG time (if ever) where I'm excited for this winter. I get to snuggle up with a cute little baby girl instead of facing a -20+ degree day and driving in horrible snow conditions 35 miles to work. That's only a small part of my excitement :) So I'm only a little late in posting this... I wanted to share Jason's 4th of July party invite. Hey Everyone! It’s that time of year again! I wanted to send you a formal invitation to the 4th Annual Fremont Jr. 4th of July Party! Start Time: Noon (eat around 12:30) End Time: NEVER If you weren’t there last year, here are a couple fun group pictures we took: Sometimes we even have Celebrities showing up! (thanks for stopping by Affleck family!) (Jake, remember when you would only say AFFLECK in the voice of the Aflac duck? That was awkward) We’ll probably get the festivities started around noon. Eating by 12:30 or so. We’ll have Burgers and Brats, but we’d ask that everyone coming bring a dish to share (a salad of some sort, ask Megan, she is the salad expert) After lunch, we’ll have a choice of multiple activities: Hopefully none of this will happen: So yes, we’ll have different lawn games (mini volleyball, Frisbee throwing at water bottles thing game, slip and slide, bocce ball) We’ll do those as we work off the pounds of food we just ate. Then the real fun begins. We’ll pray for the Lake to allow us to tube, because we all remember these fun times: Stephanie and Bayley having some good quality time Hey abbie, you’re supposed to stay on the tube! And then Tomm wanted to show us his big fat feet while he jumped over Ariel (who had really short hair that day) And of course Kyle and Marie had to show up dressed way better than everyone else…and hold hands… So as you can see, so much fun is to be had, but don’t swim with a full stomach, or something weird can happen Anyways, the best is yet to come, because after all this fun, we still get to see.. But without the tears We will probably go to Hazelwood again this year, I think that a lot of people had fun doing that last year. Jake for sure did: There you have it! The Famous Fremont 4th of July Party invite! Maybe this is more funny if you know the people and the ridiculous pictures Jason picked to represent them, but you had to have chuckled a little, right?
The party was a lot of fun. We grilled out, played mini volleyball, Frisbee, and went swimming. Sadly there was still a no wake zone on the lake so we couldn't go tubing as planned. Ending the party with fireworks in a park was a perfect cap to the night Hope you all had a good 4th as well! Well here I am, a week late posting again! Tomorrow I will be 19 weeks! I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to knowing if this little bundle of joy will be a girl or a boy :) July 14th is the date we get to find out! It's an evening appointment, so needless to say it will be a LONG work day! I was convinced at first that Baby F is a boy, but now I'm not sure! We can't agree on a boy's name so I have a feeling that seals the deal on baby being a boy. I have felt a lot better the last week to week and a half. I've had a break from my headaches (praying that will last) and I have slightly more energy. Jason still laughs when I go to bed early, but at lest now I can walk up the stairs instead of staring at them wondering how I'll have the energy to make it to the top. That is an improvement! I'm also getting a little better at having extra food with me. It's really weird to start to feel gross/weird and to know that food will make me feel better. Food is usually the LAST thing I want when I'm not feeling great. I also think I might, maybe, could have felt the baby a few times? Hard to tell at this point with this being my first. It makes me all the more excited for when Jason will be able to put his hands on the baby bump and to feel the baby moving! My last OB appointment showed that the baby moves and kicks around a lot, so hopefully as baby gets bigger he/she will be a little more gentle with me :) Can't say that I have cravings really... that is the only disappointment I have with pregnancy so far! I can't really eat fries any more, but that's the only food thing so far. Last night after church I did want a limeade from Sonic SUPER bad and Jason was a cutie and drove us to one even though it was not close at all to church or home. I guess I better try to curb that craving a bit! In other news we got to see the Cooper's! Matt and Ali and the kids few in for about 10 days. They are always so fun to be around. Brooke will be turning 5 in a few weeks, Landon is 7, and Noah is 8.5! They are busy busy kids but a joy to be around. While they were here we went to a Twins game, played back yard baseball, had birthday parties, and ate a lot :) The kids got to go fishing on the pontoon. Over all it was a very fun time with the Cooper's as always. Now we are looking forward to the 4th! I'll post Jason's invite to our party next week. He is just too funny sometimes :) I'll be 17 weeks along tomorrow, but this picture was taken this past Sunday at 16 weeks :) So far I'm still fighting headaches, started getting swollen ankles (ick, they hurt!), and the random episodes of morning sickness (and because of this my car is well stocked for the next random episode....).all what I'm experiencing in my second trimester. Learning to eat more is another interesting side of pregnancy, and trying to keep the extra snacks on the healthy side. I am still very tired and have to get to bed by 9:30, but it's not the same exhaustion that I had in the first trimester. So that is the one thing that has gotten better! Here he is! |
