We had the tech write down the gender in a card so that we could go out to eat and open it together alone. It was so special for us to find out if baby was a girl or a boy together. When we saw that we are having a girl, Jason's response was "wow.. a girl" in a voice that sounded a little awe filled (and maybe a little nervous, a little girl has a way of getting her daddy wrapped around her finger :) and my response was just to cry. (I have tears now writing this!)
It's absolutely amazing to me that the little movements I feel and the bump that is growing is all because this little girl is inside! It's so awesome to see how the Lord creates life. As my friend Amanda wrote in her blog when she was pregnant with Shirley, it's so crazy/amazing/cool/weird that the safest place for a baby to grow and develop is inside the mother womb.
Needless to say we have some excited aunties and uncles and grandmas and grandpas!
Mom has started designing a quilt for Baby Girl, Monica has picked out yarn to knit for Baby Girl, Stephanie has graciously been giving me books to borrow and clothes to wear.
Jason and I had a mini gender reveal party the night of July 11. Jason thought it was crazy weird to have a party for it, but why not?! An excuse to have family over and to have a fun way to tell them if baby is a girl or a boy is so much fun! I made cupcakes the night before, 12 with blue frosting in the middle and 12 with pink frosting in the middle. Family all came over and we had mom and dad on Skype and Matt and Ali on Skype. Once everyone bit into the cupcakes there were lots of squeals and congrats all around. I think Jason enjoyed it more than he thought he would :)
We cannot wait for November! This is the first time in a LONG time (if ever) where I'm excited for this winter. I get to snuggle up with a cute little baby girl instead of facing a -20+ degree day and driving in horrible snow conditions 35 miles to work. That's only a small part of my excitement :)
