I've moved around a few times... grew up in MT, moved to MN for college, spent a summer in KS, spent a semester in New Zealand, moved to CA for 5 years, and now I'm back in MN. With each place I move, there are certain foods or drinks that I associate with each place and there are memories that go along as well. Boba and Frozen Yogurt were two items from CA that I associate with California. Frozen Yogurt has slowly been introduced to Minnesota and I've been very excited about that. Yesterday I saw a picture on Instagram that a friend took and it was of bubble tea. I just about yelled out loud at work "where is that from??" but held in my excitement. Yes, I love bubble tea/boba.. but what was so exciting to me was how it made me think back on fun memories of my friends and I in CA getting boba and then I realized how much I miss my friends! I'm sure it's perfectly acceptable for me to spend money on boba so I don't miss my friends as much.. right? haha as if that would work :)
So what food/drinks do I associate with the other places I've lived? The short list:
Montana: Pretty much just my mom's cooking...and chokecherry jelly
Minnesota: Caribou Coffee, Nelson's Ice Cream
Kansas: Limeade from Sonic, Chocolate Bags
New Zealand: Iced Hot Chocolates, Tim Tams, L&P, all coffee (it all tasted better there. true story)
California: Carmel Latte from Starbucks, Strawberry stuffed french toast, FroYo, Boba, Pizookies
