(I stole this off of someone's facebook page. I'm sorry.. I don't have references to reference. Is that bad?)
Jason and I were trying to run more as we had entered into a 5K race that his sister and her family were putting on as a fundraiser. (They are wanting to adopt from Ethiopia) I won't say too much about who did more running before the race than who, or who said one of us wasn't enough competition for the other one of us to motivate that one of us to run, and so I shouldn't mention that the one who did more running and the one that wasn't competition for the other beat the other. Was that confusing enough for you? :)
It was actually a really nice morning for the run, a bit on the humid side. A handful of us ran and the rest walked. I was just determined to run the whole thing. I'm a pretty slow runner and this course had a LOT of hills (Thanks Steph :P). After the race there were raffles and kids races put on and face painting throughout. All in all a fun way to raise money for the Smidt's adoption.
As I mentioned in the last post, Jason's sister from CA (Ali) and her family were here for the above. The race was the 15th and Ali and her kids were in MN for another week yet. So we spent time with them as much as week could, and even got to be with them during a crazy storm. I wish I had a picture of how hard it was raining and wind blowing. Never in our lives had we seen rain like that! Trees and power lines were down in lots of places and some people were without power for several days. Thankfully, not us. They left this past Sat and we were sad to see them go!
This past (and/or last? I'm losing track) week I also started a morning bible study with my friend Ari, we had men and their wives from Jason's bible study over for a bbq and to play volleyball, a grad party, and the church picnic. Busy is how we like to be :)
Last night Jason got together with a friend, so I had a few hours at the house alone. What did I do with it? Read, baked, drank coffee, and watched Gilmore Girls, what else would I do?! Oh! Mom will like this, I also spend a few min in the garden. Yes only a few min, it's needs my mother's touch (HINT MOM. THIS IS A HINT).
Here is a picture of my wonderful coffee in my Vanilla Bean Cafe mug and the sugar cookie bars with PURPLE frosting I made.
To end this post, I feel like this picture is the best way to end. It has nothing to do with my post. I just had fun playing around with an app I have :)
